Pratyahara in yoga practice is like being able to escape to the resort retreat of your dreams at any time anywhere!


Practice of withdrawing into yourself can give your 5 senses time to recoup and rejuvenate while still being present in life and still in your body.  You can practice partial forms of pratyahara by limiting the stimulation of some of your senses in order to eventually retreat within yourself for a whole body experience.


Some simple steps to initiate your practice of pratyahara are listed below:

  • Sight – Close your eyes
  • Smell – Pinch your nose
  • Hearing – Plug your ears
  • Taste – Refrain from swallowing for a few minutes
  • Touch – Float in water
