Forward fold is one of my favorite positions. It releases my hamstrings when they are tight and also helps me breathe when my heart is heavy.  Kind of like a standing fetus position, I find myself fall into this pose when I am at my breaking points and need some cuddles.  I use this posture to also gauge my practice. Usually I know the answer, but if I want to know if I have not stretched enough recently, I see how far I can fold cold.  If I ever can’t touch my toes, it is like red alert and I get my booty in gear immediately!




Quick Tips

  • To enhance the stretch in your hamstrings and prevent tucking into it like a tortoise, wrap your arms behind your back to keep your back straight 

  • Allow room for your body to fold by sucking the belly in on exhale moving ur guts in toward your chest cavity

  • Lift the toes to ensure your feet are evenly pressing into the ground
